Common Questions
Can I double or triple the recipes?
Yes! Each recipe is easily scalable. Just mix up a big batch, doubling or tripling the ingredients as needed. Then, store the mixture in a larger container.
What kind of salt should I use?
I typically use fine sea salt or kosher salt. Avoid table salt unless the recipe calls for it specifically. It can taste overly salty or metallic in some blends.
Are these seasoning blends gluten-free?
Yes! All of these recipes are naturally gluten-free and made from whole spices.
How can I make them low-sodium?
Just reduce or omit the salt! You can always season your dish to taste later.

Why Make Your Own Seasonings?
If you’ve ever flipped over a store-bought seasoning blend and seen a list of preservatives, additives, or sugar, you’re not alone. That’s one of the biggest reasons I started making my own spice blends. Here’s why I love DIY seasoning mixes:
- Clean Ingredients – You control exactly what goes in (and what doesn’t).
- More Flavor – Freshly mixed spices always taste better!
- Budget-Friendly – Skip the pricey packets and mix from pantry staples you probably already have on hand.
- Customizable – Make the blends spicier, lower in salt, or tweak flavors to match your tastes.
- Perfect for Meal Prep – Pre-mix your blends, and use them throughout the week.

My Favorite Storage Tools
Let’s talk organization! Having a dedicated spot for your spice blends not only helps keep them fresh but also makes cooking faster, easier, and way more fun.
- Mini Glass Spice Jars with Bamboo Lids (opens in a new tab) – These are aesthetic, great for organizing, and airtight!
- Chalkboard or Printed Labels (opens in a new tab)– Label everything clearly so you know what’s what.
- Small Funnel (opens in a new tab) – Makes it easy to pour spices into jars with zero mess.
- Tiered Spice Rack (opens in a new tab)or Lazy Susan (opens in a new tab) – A game-changer for small cabinets or drawers.
Storage Tips
- Store spices in a cool, dry place (not above the stove).
Label with the blend name and the date you made it. Most blends stay fresh for 6-12 months. - Use a sniff test. You’ll know your seasoning blends are old when the color fades and they no longer have a strong aroma.
