There’s honestly nothing better than homemade Peach Cinnamon Rolls in the summertime! Soft, fluffy cinnamon roll dough is layered with a warm cinnamon-spiced peach filling, baked until golden, and finished with a sweet glaze. I also love that they’re big, super fluffy, and full of the best peach flavor in every bite. Made with cottage cheese in the dough, these homemade cinnamon rolls are surprisingly high in protein without sacrificing any of the classic taste and texture you know and love. I love making these for slow weekend breakfasts, brunch, or even special summer celebrations. My kids are a big fan, too!

Super Fluffy Brown Sugar Peach Cinnamon Rolls

Peach recipes and cinnamon rolls are two of my favorite things! Every summer, I keep fresh peaches on the counter for recipes like my peach smoothie, peach mozzarella salad, and fresh peach muffins. And my classic cottage cheese cinnamon rolls are a breakfast staple in my home all year long.

So, when the idea of filling fluffy cinnamon rolls with warm, cinnamon-spiced peaches popped into my head, I had to make it happen. And after lots of testing, I can honestly say these are SO good! The peaches become perfectly soft and jammy as they bake, the brown sugar and maple syrup create a caramel-like sweetness, and the cottage cheese dough makes the rolls incredibly soft and fluffy while adding more protein. These peach cinnamon rolls are everything I love about peach season wrapped up in one irresistible breakfast!

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • 25-Minute Prep – Because we’re not using yeast, you don’t have to wait around for the dough to rise, meaning the prep time is pretty quick.
  • Soft & Fluffy – The cottage cheese dough turns out incredibly light, soft, and fluffy, giving you bakery-style cinnamon rolls without the hassle of yeast. Even my picky kids have no idea they’re eating cottage cheese!
  • Higher-Protein – Thanks to the cottage cheese, each cinnamon roll has 10 grams of protein, making them a bit more filling than a standard cinnamon roll.
  • Great for Brunch or Dessert – These peach cinnamon rolls are special enough for holiday breakfasts and weekend brunches, and I love them served warm for dessert.

Ingredients

Brown Sugar Mixture

  • Unsalted Butter – This melts into the cinnamon rolls as they bake, creating a buttery base.
  • Dark Brown Sugar – Adds caramel-like sweetness and pairs well with the peaches.
  • Maple Syrup – Enhances the brown sugar.
  • Cinnamon – Adds warmth and sweetness for a classic cinnamon roll taste.

Peach Filling

  • Peaches – Use fresh, ripe peaches that have a fragrant smell and give just slightly when gently squeezed. I don’t recommend frozen peaches for this recipe (as they release too much liquid)!
  • Unsalted Butter – Softens the peaches and adds a rich flavor. Melted coconut oil works well, too!
  • Maple Syrup – Sweetens the filling and creates a cohesive taste without overpowering the fruit.
  • Spices – A pinch of salt balances the sweetness and enhances the rest of the ingredients, and ground cinnamon adds depth and warmth.

Dough

  • Cottage Cheese (opens in a new tab) – I recommend using full-fat cottage cheese for the best taste and texture. Both small and large curd work.
  • Vanilla – Enhances the sweetness and infuses the dough with a subtle vanilla taste.
  • Maple Syrup – Adds the perfect touch of sweetness.
  • Flour – All-purpose flour forms the base of the dough. For gluten-free peach cinnamon rolls, use a 1:1 all-purpose gluten-free flour.
  • Baking Powder – Make sure it’s fresh, or your dough won’t rise!

Cottage Cheese Glaze

  • Cottage Cheese – This creates a creamy, protein-filled base for the glaze. We blend it until smooth so no one ever notices!
  • Maple Syrup – Sweetens the glaze.

How to Make Peach Cinnamon Rolls

Don’t worry if you’ve ever been too intimidated to make cinnamon rolls from scratch. This recipe is a simplified version that doesn’t require complicated equipment or waiting hours for dough to rise! You’ll need a square baking pan (opens in a new tab) (or a round baking dish), a large skillet, three large bowls, a blender (opens in a new tab), a rolling pin, and a sharp knife. Here’s how to make Peach Cinnamon Rolls:

  1. Prepare butter – Melt butter in a large skillet. Then, remove it from the heat and mix in brown sugar, maple syrup, and cinnamon. Transfer the mixture to a bowl, and chill it in the fridge until you’re ready to use it.
  2. Soften the peaches – In the same skillet, add all the peach filling ingredients. Cook on medium heat, stirring often, until the peaches soften. Turn off the heat, and set the skillet aside.
  3. Prepare the dough – Blend all the wet ingredients in a blender until smooth. Set aside 2 tablespoons of the mixture. We’ll use this to make the glaze! Then, mix in the dry ingredients just until a smooth dough forms.
  4. Shape the dough – Use your hands to shape the dough into a ball. Then, on a floured surface, roll it out into a square.
  5. Layer – Spread half of the brown sugar mixture over the dough, and spoon the peach mixture in an even layer on top.
  6. Slice and roll – Use a sharp knife to slice the dough into six long, even strips. Then, working from one end of a dough strip, roll it up into a roll. Repeat, rolling all of the dough.
  7. Arrange the rolls – Place the rolls in a prepared pan, leaving space between each piece. They’ll rise as they bake! Spoon the remaining brown sugar mixture over the top of the cinnamon rolls. Carefully spread it out with the back of a spoon.
  8. Bake – Transfer the baking dish to a preheated oven, and bake just until the rolls rise and the edges begin to turn golden. Set the cinnamon rolls aside to cool.
  9. Add the glaze – In the meantime, whisk the glaze ingredients in a bowl. Spread them over the peach cinnamon rolls, and enjoy warm!

Tips

  • Use ripe but firm peaches. They should be sweet and juicy but still hold their shape after cooking. Overripe peaches can make the filling too watery.
  • Dice the peaches very small. Small pieces are easier to roll up and help create even layers of peach filling throughout each cinnamon roll.
  • Don’t overmix the dough. Stir just until the ingredients come together. Overworking the dough can make the cinnamon rolls less soft and tender.
  • Flour your work surface lightly. A light dusting of flour prevents sticking without making the dough dry or tough.
  • Cool before glazing. Let the cinnamon rolls rest for about 10 minutes before adding the glaze so it doesn’t completely melt off the tops.

Variations

Add chopped pecans or walnuts. Sprinkle chopped nuts over the peach filling before rolling for a delicious crunchy texture.

Make them extra peachy. Stir a few tablespoons of peach preserves into the filling for even more peach flavor.

Add warm spices. Mix a pinch of nutmeg, ginger, or cardamom into the peach filling for extra warmth and depth.

Use a classic powdered sugar glaze. If you prefer a more traditional cinnamon roll, combine 1 cup of powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon of melted butter, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla in a large bowl. Add 1 tablespoon of milk, and mix to combine, adding 1/2 tablespoon of milk at a time until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls.

Finish with a drizzle of caramel. A little salted caramel sauce makes these cinnamon rolls feel extra indulgent for holidays or brunch gatherings.

My Favorite Ways to Serve

These peach cinnamon rolls are huge! So, I typically enjoy them on their own with a vanilla latte or pecan crunch oatmilk latte. However, if I’m hosting brunch or putting together a breakfast spread for a special occasion, I like to include savory options, too. Some of my go-tos include homemade egg bites and Whole30 healthy breakfast casserole.

How to Store

On the rare occasion that I have leftovers, I transfer cooled peach cinnamon rolls to an airtight container. They stay fresh in the fridge for up to 4 days. You can also freeze leftover rolls without the glaze for up to 3 months

Thaw frozen rolls in the fridge overnight. Then, warm them in the oven at 300°F for about 8 to 10 minutes or until heated through, and add the glaze just before serving. For a faster option, reheat leftover glazed cinnamon rolls in the microwave in 20-30 second increments.

Do you have to use 4% fat cottage cheese?

    1. JOL Team

Hey Sonnet! 4% whole milk cottage cheese gives a richer flavor and better texture but you can absolutely use a 2% low fat cottage cheese. Enjoy!

  2. Kaitlyn

These look yummy! Is there a way to prep ahead of time to make it quicker to serve in the morning?

    1. JOL Team

Hey Kaitlyn! You can do steps 2-5 the night before and then just need to mix the dough together and assemble them to make it a bit quicker. I have thought about making these fully the night before and covering in the fridge overnight and just needing to bake in the morning but I haven’t tried it yet. Enjoy!
