Easily make it dairy-free by substituting plant-based milk and coconut oil, make it gluten-free with gluten-free brioche or challah. Ingredients/Substitutions

  • Plant-based milk
  • Eggs
  • Maple syrup
  • Molasses (opens in a new tab)
  • Vanilla Extract/Salt
  • Gingerbread Spices: Ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, ground cloves, and ground ginger.
  • Butter or coconut oil, for cooking
  • Bread (brioche, whole wheat, gluten-free – your choice!)

How to Make Gingerbread French Toast

It’s so easy to make Gingerbread French Toast! All you need is a large mixing bowl, a non-stick skillet, (opens in a new tab) and about 5 minutes of prep time. Here’s how to put this recipe together:

  1. Whisk the milk, eggs, maple syrup, molasses, vanilla, salt, and gingerbread spices together.
  2. Dip each slice of bread in the egg mixture, making sure to soak it for a few seconds and coat evenly on both sides.
  3. Cook each slice in a non-stick skillet over medium heat with butter or coconut oil (until lightly brown on each side).
  4. Add toppings and enjoy!

Storing Leftovers

To store, let this Gingerbread French Toast cool completely. Place in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 4-5 days, or keep in the freezer for up to 3 months!

If freezing this recipe, it may be helpful to add a slice of parchment paper between each slice of bread to keep from sticking. You can also make a big batch of this recipe ahead of time and store for the week(s) ahead! Simply reheat in the microwave when you’re ready to enjoy.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup plant-based milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 Tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 Tablespoon molasses (opens in a new tab)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 Tablespoon butter or coconut oil
  • 6 slices bread (brioche, whole wheat, gluten-free – your choice!)

Instructions
