One word: PIZZZAAAA! Pizza is my biggest downfall when it comes to eating healthy. I love it with all my heart. So when I’m craving it (ahem….e’ry day…), these 10-Minute Margherita Pita Bread Pizzas are a delicious and healthy WIN!

I think I can totally blame my childhood upbringing for my pizza addiction. It’s literally my favorite food EVER (with doughnuts as a super close runner up). Every Friday night my sister and I would come home from school and we would order delivery pizza while watching movies all evening. DEFINITELY not healthy pizza! Thankfully these 10-Minute Margherita Pita Bread Pizzas are here to save the day.

These 10-Minute Margherita Pita Bread Pizzas are so delicious and easy!

I love this pizza because not only is it addicting, delicious, and tastes just like cheat meal pizza (yeah, that’s a thing in my life), but it’s a great “we’re completely out of groceries and are scraping the fridge clean” type of meal.

You can basically add any toppings you want! Chicken, pineapple, spinach, different types of cheeses……you call the shots! And it’s still delish. And healthy. And a TOTAL WIN!

Pita Pizza Ingredients

As in literally, 10 minutes, y’all! All you need is some delicious Pita Bread, (opens in a new tab) tomato sauce, (opens in a new tab) and toppings to your hearts content. These are basically the lazy girl version of the Spinach Pesto & Goat Cheese Individual Pizzas.

I also added a little bit of crushed red pepper (opens in a new tab) and ground pine nuts (opens in a new tab) to these pita bread pizzas, which took the recipe to ANOTHER LEVEL. If you’re feeling adventurous, I recommend adding these!

How to Make Pita Bread Pizza in Oven

  1. Spread the pitas with tomato sauce
  2. Top with desired toppings (see my recipe below)
  3. Bake in the oven on a foil lined tray until heated through and the cheese is melted

Pita Bread Pizza Recipe Tips

  • No mozzarella? you could use cheddar or any good melting cheese you have
  • Always use fresh basil as it has much more flavor than dried

Other Pita Pizza Recipe Toppings

  • Mediterranean Veggie – Hummus (instead of tomato sauce), sliced cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, kalamata olives, red onion, feta cheese, and a sprinkle of oregano

  • BBQ Chicken – BBQ sauce, shredded rotisserie chicken, red onion, mozzarella cheese, and fresh cilantro

  • Spinach Artichoke – Cream cheese + garlic spread, chopped spinach, marinated artichoke hearts, mozzarella, and a little parmesan on top

  • Spicy Pepper & Mozzarella – Tomato sauce, sliced roasted red peppers, fresh jalapeño slices, mozzarella, and crushed red pepper flakes

  • Pesto Caprese – Basil pesto, sliced cherry tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze after baking

  • Breakfast-For-Dinner Pizza – Olive oil base, scrambled eggs, crumbled turkey sausage, cheddar cheese, and a few baby spinach leaves

How to Store Pita Pizza

Refrigerator – Let the pizzas cool, then store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Freezer – Wrap individual pita pizzas in foil or parchment and place in a freezer bag. Freeze for up to 2 months. Just thaw before reheating!

Pita Pizza Oven Reheating Instructions

To reheat, preheat your oven to 350°F, place the pizza on a baking sheet, and bake for 5-7 minutes until warm and the cheese is melted again. You can also reheat it in the toaster oven for a crispy finish or even the microwave!

I really like this pizza because it is a simple and “national” dish.

As someone who is actively working on losing weight and LOVES HER PIZZA, I am obsessed with this simple and delicious pizza recipe!! I usually have two of them for my supper meal when I make them and I am left feeling full and completely satisfied. Hot tip: I make a little arugula salad to go on top – arugula, fresh lemon juice and just a splash of extra virgin olive oil, s+p and just take a hand full and throw it on top after you bake em’! Gives it a little something extra and helps fill up the belly.
