Ingredients

All you need for these yummy treats are 4 ingredients!

Ingredients for healthy rice krispie treats.

Cereal – want to make these gluten free? Use a brown rice cereal (opens in a new tab) instead of rice krispies cereal. Or any cereal you have on hand!

Cashew Butter – to ensure that the bars aren’t too soft, use a cashew butter (opens in a new tab) that’s thick and doesn’t have too much oil separation. However, any nut butter of choice will work in this recipe!

Honey – feel free to use agave syrup (opens in a new tab) instead.

Toppings/Mix-ins – While these Healthy Rice Krispie Treats are birthday cake flavored/inspired and include sprinkles, (opens in a new tab) feel free to use any mix-ins you want. Chocolate chips, walnuts, or dried fruit work great, too!

Making Healthy Rice Krispie Treats

1. Mix all of the ingredients together in a large mixing bowl.

2. Pour the mixture into an 8×8 cake pan (opens in a new tab) lined with parchment paper.

3. Flatten with a spatula, then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

4. Cut into bars and enjoy!

What can you use instead of marshmallow?

Since we’re not using marshmallow in this recipe, a nut butter combined with honey is a great alternative for holding Healthy Rice Krispie Treats together. While any nut butter works great, cashew butter is the optimal option since it’s flavors are mild and sweet!
